Comments:

BrazilOnGuitar says: The release of The Frankfurt Opera Concert in 1992 was a big surprise for listeners and long-time collectors, those who attended the concert in Frankfurt but as well for a new generation of listeners. In 1996, another live recording was released as well: Baden Powell a Paris from May 12th, 1974. Both recordings provide an insight in his repertoire during the European tour of the mid-seventies. Listening many times to the Frankfurt Concert we got aware of the high tempi in the combo pieces, especially when one compares all available and early live versions of Samba Triste, that were played in Berlin, Japan and Paris. The more quiet solo pieces amplify this contrast.

Probably, this concert is a document of the high level in solistic expression that Baden had reached after numerous concerts and his great success in Europe and Japan. Regarding his health, he reached a low point, weighing only 43 kg at some point. In 1975 he recorded three records, two more in 1977. With the birth of his first son, Philippe Baden, on April 15th 1978 he found his balance again and recovered as a father of a family.

4-page booklet with words by Claus Schreiner. The Japanese Edtion has the same booklet in English and also an insert with words in Japanese by Jin Nakahara. We thank Robert G. (Germany) for his translation.
